Located in Toronto, the riding of Beaches-East York is bordered to the south by the northern shore of Lake Ontario, to the north by the Don River and Sunrise Avenue, Victoria Park Avenue to the east, and Coxwell Avenue to the west.

Displaying an almost equal number of homeowners to renters, the bulk of workers in the riding are in manufacturing, retail, health work and social services. Average family income is $73,372 and the unemployment rate is 6.5 per cent. According to 2001 census data, the immigrant population is nearly 35%, with Chinese, Italian and East Indian among the major ethnic groups.

Formed in 2007, Beaches-East York combines approximately 97% of the old Beaches-East York riding, 2% of the old riding of Don Valley East and a minute portion of the former riding of Scarborough Southwest.

Beaches-East York is made up of several neighbourhoods that span three city wards (Wards 31, 32 and 34).
